On the significance of religion for global diplomacy, 2020: ECIP t.p. (John Neary) galley (John Neary was a diplomat in the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 1974 until his retirement from the Foreign Service in 2016. He served as Ireland's Ambassador to Japan from 2010 to 2014 and as Ambassador to the Netherlands from 2014 until 2016. He is currently a member of the Working Group on the Future of the EU 27 at the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) in Dublin. In 2017, he was appointed Adjunct Professor at University College Dublin where he works to support the University in developing its links with Japan. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin)
