Letter of Right Hon. E.G. Stanley, Chief Secretary of Ireland, explaining the grounds on which the government have withdrawn their support from those societies in Ireland, in which the scriptures alone were taught, and have appointed a Board of Commissioners, composed of Protestants, Roman Catholics and a Socinian, to superintend the education of the Irish peasantry. It will be observed that the free use of holy scripture forms no part of the new plan. To the Duke of Leinster.
