Interviews transcribed and edited from discussions taped during March 1995 with George Kennan, Robert McNamara, Henry Kissinger, Paul Nitze, Robert Gates. Shorter versions of each were broadcast on the BBC Radio 4 programme The world tonight in April 1995.
